Tyler has been playing drums since the age of 11 and has been teaching since age 17. He graduated from Berklee College of Music as a Performance major with a Bachelor of Music degree earning the Highest Distinction and is an active and enthusiastic educator, writer and performer. Knowledgeable in rock, pop, R&B/funk, blues, jazz, fusion and their sub-genres, Tyler is a versatile drummer called for many different live and recording sessions, and draws from all of his musical experiences to passionately serve his students. From teaching drummers in South Africa to Toronto, he tailors each lesson to the individual's interests, goals, skill level, and personality.
Tyler feels it is important for him to learn about his students' non-musical interests so he can relate drumming to other areas of life that are important to them.
Tyler feels it is important for him to learn about his students' non-musical interests so he can relate drumming to other areas of life that are important to them, be it golf, tennis, film, philosophy, or anything else, in order to help make learning music what he believes it should be: engaging, fun, challenging, and enriching for the soul.
Music "gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything."
