Alex Purcell’s Band Tenshi Releases Debut Album, Logatomes

At Neighbour Note, we are excited to share a major milestone achieved by one of our incredibly talented teachers, Alex Purcell. Not only is Alex a dedicated and inspiring guitar instructor, but he is also an accomplished musician who has recently released a debut album with his Toronto-based jazz fusion band, Tenshi. Their album, Logatomes, is a remarkable testament to musical creativity and collaboration, and we couldn’t be prouder of Alex’s achievement. 

Tenshi is a dynamic quartet made up of four exceptional musicians, each bringing their unique style and energy to the group: 

• May Akanuma on saxophone and flute, whose expressive melodies and intricate textures set the tone for many of the band’s compositions. 

• Spencer Bridgwateron bass, who not only lays down groove-driven foundations but also contributes much of the band’s original repertoire. 

• Ben Graffam on drums, infusing the music with inventive rhythms and captivating beats. 

• Alex Purcell, our very own guitar teacher, whose harmonic depth and masterful solos bring a rich, emotive quality to the music. 

Logatomes is an extraordinary journey through jazz fusion, blending traditional jazz elements with modern improvisation and global influences. Each track tells a unique story, showcasing the band’s ability to balance technical mastery with heartfelt expression. The album’s vibrant energy and intricate arrangements demonstrate the creativity and dedication that Alex brings to his students at Neighbour Note.
